PDOCC

Phaung Daw Oo Cleaning Campaign (PDOCC) was begun in 2009 and has a long-term goal of implementing environmental development. The goals of the project are to improve the environment in and around PDO High School and to increase environmental knowledge through education and projects that reduce waste, promote health and improve the appearance of PDO’s campus.


 Past activities

PDOCC has successfully completed the implementation of programs like:
  • educating the students about diarrhea, hand washing, personal hygiene, bacteria in the air and, for female students, menstruation;
  • supplying cleaning materials, such as brooms, dust-pans, soap, cloths;
  • teaching the students about recycling;
  • creating fertilizer for the garden;
  • taking field trips to illustrate composting and the recycling of plastic and paper.

Ongoing activities

PDOCC is currently implementing the following programs:
  • the everyday checking of cleanliness in and around the school;
  • giving hygiene lessons to the students once a week;
  • separating the rubbish for recycling.
The Phaung Daw Oo Cleaning Campaign has been financed and implemented by Margaret Mahogany and Jessica Rozek from the United States.
